In my artistic exploration of "Sanctuary," I delve into the profound essence of a garden as more than a mere physical space—it is a living, breathing sanctuary that nurtures all its stakeholders, from the creators to the admirers to the pollinators.

Gardens are cultivated and crafted with intention, love, and a sense of stewardship. In "Sanctuary," I seek to capture the essence of the creators—the hands that plant, nurture, and sculpt the landscape. Through the strokes of my brush or the lines of my pen, I convey the profound connection between the caretaker and the earth, exploring the intentionality behind every plant, every pathway, and every corner of this sacred space.

The color palette of "Sanctuary" reflects the richness of a well-tended garden—earthy tones grounding the composition, lush greens breathing life into the foliage, and vibrant floral hues infusing energy into the scene. Every brushstroke is intentional, each detail carefully crafted to convey the emotional tone of the sanctuary—a space that evokes serenity, joy, and a profound sense of awe.

The paintings are created with watercolor, gouache, and ink on canvas. They are preserved with an archival varnish. 

This series is dedicated to a sunflower plant that gave our garden joy all summer and then got used in various paintings and dried wildflower arrangements.

Peace Gardens is a series of works that is inspired by photographing many botanical gardens and the Japanese tea garden in the Golden Gate Park in San Francisco.

Summer Rainbow is a series of watercolor abstracts on canvas. I painted many color palettes with dynamic waves and lines to emphasize the beauty of summer colors.

As part of my dedication to painting pollinators, I have created a series of landscape abstracts to illustrate giving them passage with our gardening choices. When I lived in California, I was faced with the decision of removing my lawn to save water and waste. Instead of putting in the popular astroturf, I made gardens for pollinators. There is a hidden butterfly shape in each one.

These paintings are made from watercolor, gouache, and sumi ink on basswood panels. The colors are lush greens, blues, and pink to represent a rich and natural environment.

On The Spot is a new series with a modern twist on organic shapes. The series is made with gouache and ink on basswood panels and paper.

Here is a collection of mixed media collages that were inspired in my process to create a xeriscape garden during the drought in California. Mixed media materials include reclaimed organic material, paper, charcoal, rocks, glue, recycled paint, recycled books, recycled papers, and packages from my kitchen. Various sizes. Not for sale. 2021.

Fire makes me feel on edge, in danger of no return, escape, or way out from the heat and destruction. Wildfires inspire the colors in abstract fires. This series of photographs of mixed media colloidal systems are dye sublimated prints on metal.

Organicscapes is a series of photographs of mixed media objects. Materials used include paper, ink, gouache, wood, mixed organic materials, glass, and locally grown fruits and vegetables. These images explore patterns of organic processes used in sustainable farming that I have photographed over a number of years. Painting, printing, and sculpting are combined to create these contemplative scenes. These giclee prints on Kodak silver paper.

This series of digital images explores trees around California in the processes they endure from man and nature. They are printed in on 100% cotton rag paper.
