Passages
As part of my dedication to painting pollinators, I have created a series of landscape abstract expressionism paintings to illustrate giving them passage with our gardening choices. I removed my lawn to save water and waste when I lived in California. Instead of using the popular astroturf, I made xeriscape gardens for pollinators. There is a hidden butterfly shape in each one.
These abstract expressionism paintings are made from watercolor, gouache, and sumi ink on basswood panels. They are preserved with a final archival varnish. The colors are lush greens, blues, and pink to represent a rich and natural environment. Can you find the hidden butterfly?
