Plein Air Event
I was proud to be selected to participate as a plein air artist at the East Side Art Institute.
The ESAI was formerly an abandoned rose farm that will now house a new art institute in Lafayette, Colorado, for plein air painting, workshops, and botanical experimentation.
Here are 3 pieces that I completed in 3 days, standing in the field with my flat easel, paints, and a smile of joy.
The titles, in order:
Out in the Field is a 20” x 20” view of the Flat Irons in Boulder, Colorado. It is painted in gouache and ink on wood and preserved with an archival varnish.
The Rose Room Window, 16” x 16” is a view of the rose processing barn that was the most beautiful green color. It is painted in gouache and ink on wood and preserved with an archival varnish.
Tree Henge, 20” x 20” is my favorite painting. It is a view of an old cottonwood tree, cut down into 5 tall trunk forms and waiting for an artist to turn it into a glorious sculpture. It is painted in gouache and ink on wood and preserved with an archival varnish.
